Mobile and Wireless Networking
- Fall 2008 -
This course will cover some recent developments and topics in wireless
and mobile computing and networking field. There is no mandatory
textbook. A selected set of topics and papers will be covered in the
course. The selected set of topics that is selected from a larger set and that will be
covered this year include: Wireless communication fundamentals;
Wireless MAC; 802.15.4/Zigbee Low-rate Wireless PAN technology and
Sensor Networks; Clustering in ad hoc and sensor networks; Topology
control in wireless ad hoc and sensor networks; Delay torerant and
opportunistic networks; 802.16 and WiMAX technology;
The content and the way the course will be conducted will not be very
suitable for undergraduate students. Therefore, undergraduate
students who are interested in taking a course on wireless/mobile
networking should consider taking the CS 422 course (Wireless
Networking Technologies and Applications) that will be offered in
Spring 2009.
